And on the eighth day, God revised.

So after my first, hubritic post, I was seized by fears that with all that writing and overhauling, fresh errors might have crept in, missing words and the like. So I opened up all 23 files and started going through them with a fine-toothed comb. That’s about 400 pages of line editing. Caught a few embarrassing errors, and even after completely overhauling some of these babies, I’m still finding sentences that could flow a little smoother, or words carelessly repeated. I’m reminded of the story of the painter who broke into a gallery after his paintings were already on display to add a sailboat to his seascape. Nothing’s ever finished.
